By an arrival at Salem from Bordeaux, we have received by last evening's mail the following translation from the Bordeaux Gazette Extraordinary.
PARIS, FEB. 21, 1807.
Several couriers have arrived this evening, and brought news of the events of the 4th inst. and the first advantage gained by the Emperor over the Russian army. The Prince of Neuchatel writes to her majesty the Empress, from Gross-Glau deau, a letter, dated the 7th, in which are the following details:
"As soon as His Majesty the Emperor approached, the Russian army began to retreat. The 6th at night, it was before Lansberg, to continue its retreat during the night. The Emperor, commanding the advanced guard, attacked the rear of the enemy, which was repeatedly reinforced. Resistance was vain. The impetuosity of those attacks was completely successful. A division of cuirassiers made a fine charge against eight regiments, the flower of the Russian army, and cut them in pieces.--The columns forming the right and left had equal success.
To-morrow we shall be at Konigsberg.
Thus, since the breaking up of winter quarters, we have made 10,000 prisoners--taken 27 pieces of cannon--caused a great number of killed and wounded, without reckoning the events which are still to follow--and which cannot but be more and more disastrous to the enemy."
Other letters announce, that a corps of 20,000 men has been entirely cut off by Marshal Ney, and that Marshal Soult has also obtained a great advantage. Never did the Emperor and King enjoy better health.--Moniteur.
