Full Text

NEWBURY-PORT, August 17.

Last Wednesday being the day appointed for Training in this town, the Militia appeared under arms, and performed their several exercises to the satisfaction of the numerous Spectators. The day was very agreeably spent, and would have concluded in the same manner, had it not been for an accident which happened to Mr. Ebenezer Cutter, one of the Artillery Company, who in loading one of the Field Pieces had his left hand blown off, by the cartridge taking fire, while he was ramming it down. The bone of the arm was so fractured, that it was found necessary to amputate it above the elbow: he is in a fair way to recover.
