Buckingham Farmers To Tour Appomattox Watershed Tuesday

Buckingham county farmers and other interested groups are invited to meet at Buckingham Courthouse at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, to accompany the Soil Conservationist and others on a tour to inspect Falling River Pilot Watershed, Appomattox county.

On the tour, the group will observe land use patterns resulting from careful farm planning and note the effectiveness of various land treatment used to conserve soil, water and to increase fertility and improve soil structure on the highlands.

The group will visit three flood control structures where flood water is temporarily trapped and allowed to drain slowly. They will also observe stream channel improvement.
