Murder in New York.

New York, Feb. 10.-Alexander Slater, aged 24 years, of 48 Eighth avenue, New York, and Samuel E. Thompson, of 68 Washington place, quarreled over some trifling matter in a barroom on Greenwich avenue. They became so abusive that the proprietor of the saloon had them put out. They had no sooner reached the street than Slater dealt Thompson a stunning blow in the face which felled him. A policeman was attracted by the moans of Thompson, and upon examination found that he was dead. Slater, who was under the influence of liquor, made no effort to escape. Thompson two years ago was worth $300,000, but lost it all in speculation.
