"Where is Wilson Shannon?"—This renowned diplomatist, whose whereabouts for some months past has been a matter of anxious inquiry, has reached New York safe and sound, after having been successively excoriated by Mexican Secretaries, cheated by Mexico-American agents, and robbed by Mexican highwaymen. This diplomatic career has been brief, but, although it has not been very brilliant, will nevertheless render him immortal.

Mr. Shannon reached New York in the barque Arabesque, 22 days from Vera Cruz. Capt. Wilson, of the Arabesque, states that the political condition of Mexico is very unsettled, and anticipates another revolution there speedily. It was the general impression that Texas would reject the terms of annexation: Nevertheless, there was a very hostile feeling against the U. States; and it was believed, should annexation take place, that a declaration of war would follow.

By this arrival we learn further that Santa Anna is banished from Mexico forever, and not for ten years, as before stated. Canalizo and Bustamente are banished for ten years. Rejon, Baranda, Haro and Tamariz, who fled, the government will provide for hereafter. Each of them are to receive a pension equal to one-half of their pay while in the service of the government, so long as they remain at the place at which they may be directed to stay. They were compelled to satisfy all their creditors before leaving the country.
