League for Rhenish Independence
Sends Out Appeal to Gain Aid
for Its Cause.
Duesseldorf—The league for Rhenish
independence today sent an appeal to
the occupation authorities for "all
possible moral and economic support,"
following the incident at Munchen-
Gladbach yesterday in which National-
ists loyal to the Berlin government at-
tacked Separatists who were attempt-
ing to hold a meeting.
Dr. Hans Dorten, the Separatist lead-
er escaped the hostile crowds, accord-
ing to the league authorities, only by
passing himself off as an American
journalist.
The league's appeal, which is in the
form of a letter from its executive
committee, says:
"The demonstration organized in
Munchen-Gladbach by all the national-
ists of the surrounding country re-
vealed the spirit of Prussian revenge
that still animates the population and
which in a few years will lead to a war
of revenge against France and Bel-
gium."
