Full Text

To BE HUNG.—We find in the Mt. Carmel Register of the 13th an account of the trial at the Edgar Circuit court, of Joseph Knight for the murder of his brother, with the sentence of the Judge. The murderer and his brother resided in Clark county, Illinois, where the act was perpetrated. It appears, from all that we can gather, that the murdered man sued his brother for a wagon or the price thereof, and the murderer swore if the suit was not withdrawn before 5 o'clock the next morning, he would kill him, which threat he put in execution, by going to his house with his rifle—calling him out and shooting him dead upon the spot. He was sentenced to be hung on the 27th November.
