SAN FRANCISCO, (AP) An all-star benefit game in Portland led off the Pacific Coast ice hockey league season yesterday, two days before the regular schedule opens.
The Portland Eagles were matched against top players from the other four clubs of the league's northern division, with all proceeds going to Eddie Shamlock, former Eagle who lost the sight of his left eye in an accident during a Portland game last season.
The regular schedule opens tomorrow with Los Angeles at Fresno, San Francisco at Oakland and Portland at Tacoma.
