METZ AND BROME TO CONTEST FOR PLACE ON DISTRICT BENCH

Mrs. Jas. W. Rousseau to Be Candidate for County Clerk's Job.

Politics Warming.

Politics are warming. Judge P. W. Metz announces himself as a candidate for re-election to the district bench and is to be opposed by H. C. Brome, one of the prominent attorneys of Basin, and a resident of Judge Metz's own town.

Owing to his illness and incapacity for service, Mrs. Jas. W. Rousseau announces herself as a candidate for the office of county clerk in the stead of her husband who has served the county almost since its organization.

The contest for judge of the Fifth Judicial district promises to be a warm one. Taken out of politics, the judge is chosen by non-partisan ballot, and both of these gentlemen have a host of friends over the Basin. Judge Metz has served in a most able manner for a period of fourteen years, becoming judge at a time when he was the youngest man to occupy the bench in the state, and having served until from a point of service he is one of the oldest jurists in Wyoming.

During his entire term of office he has had but very few reversals of decisions from the supreme court, and has conducted his court in a most economical and efficient manner.

Mr. Brome is recognized as a leading attorney and legal advisor of the Basin. He is a man of years of experience in legal work, and his judgment is sought from a wide territory. With his long residence in the Basin, he has made many friends, and will be a worthy adversary in this contest for the position on the bench.

Mrs. Rousseau, who aspires to the office of county clerk, has been assistant county clerk during the entire tenure of her husband's many terms in office. She has a thorough knowledge of the work of the office she seeks, and since Mr. Rousseau has been absent from the office, has conducted same in a very able manner.

Unlike her husband who has always been a follower of the Jeffersonian tribe, Mrs. Rousseau has always been an avowed Republican, and in seeking nomination, does so in the Republican primary.
