PARIS, June 6.

AMONG other Things proposed for the Relief of his Majesty's Subjects, the King intends that the Lands belonging to the Nobility and Gentry, many of which pay nothing, shall be taxed in such Manner that those of the inferior Class may be eased. The Governors of Provinces are from henceforward to be honorary Commands only, without any Appointments annexed, his Majesty being well assured that those on whom he shall confer such Commands will be very well able to make a Figure answerable to them. His Majesty has given Orders that all Persons who have any Petitions, Memorials, or even any sealed Letters, to deliver to him, be admitted to his Royal Person, on Pain of his Displeasure against whoever shall attempt to hinder them.

The King proposes to apply all the Savings he is going to make to pay off the Debts of the State.

It is said that the Queen has given a strong Invitation to the Emperor of Germany, her Brother, to make his Journey to Paris, if possible, at this Time; that they may have an Opportunity of consulting with the King on some important Affairs, in which it is necessary they should act in Concert.

June 9. All the King's Papers are removed from Versailles to La Muette, where his Majesty will look over them at his Leisure. The King's Will is the only Thing that has yet been opened. It was made in the Year 1766, and his Majesty thereby gives the Princesses, his Daughters, Pensions of 200,000 Livres each, and 100,000 Livres more to the longest Liver, independent of the Maintenance of their Household, allowed in the Expenses of the State. His Plate and Jewels, independent of those of the Crown, he gives to his Children and Grand-children. The other Contents of the Will are not yet known.
