FREEDOM OF DEBATE!

Amid the continual thunder of "Order! Order!" with which Mr. Elliot was assailed during a considerable part of the time when he was speaking on the night of the 2d inst. the Stentorian voice of one of the most influential democratic leaders was repeatedly heard, exclaiming,

"Damn the Rascal, if my friends would join me, I would expel him!"

If expulsion is already contemplated as the proper punishment of a representative who shall exercise his constitutional privileges in the service of his country, what are we to expect when we shall become the humble servants of Napoleon the Great!
