Full Text
Benj. F. Hallett is exhausting his wits in endeavoring to contrive some mode of raising an opposition to the election of Messrs. Pearce and Burges, particularly Mr. Pearce. It is apparent that this political anti-masonic gambler, (Mr. H.) is endeavoring now to play the same tricks he was detected in at the Spring elections. Notwithstanding the national republican party shook this Mr Hallett off last May, still he keeps up a sort of 'buzzing round Mr Pearce,' as though he was friendly to him—but he does that thing with no other view than to get up some sort of excitement, in the course of which he hopes to have an opportunity of obtaining more subscribers, or of gaining at all hazards, some enviable distinction for the Editor of the Daily Advertiser, &c. &c.
