MEETING
The second Council Meeting
for February was held in the
Village Hall Tuesday night. The
President and five trustees were
present. Trustee Wm. Moore is
ill.
A
motion was passed to set
the deadline for purchasing ve-
hicle stickers for March 1.
The main business of the even-
ing seemed to hinge around the
President's action in removing
Trustee Wilson from the Police
Committee. Before the President
could make his report to the
Board, Wilson gained the floor
and gave a thorough airing
of
the whole affair. In his discourse
which lasted more than forty
minutes, he attacked the action
of the President as unjust and
took a verbal swing at the Vil-
lage Attorney, Mr. Black. He
made a gallant attempt to pro-
tect his good name rather than
to regain his position on the
committee. His argument reveal-
ed more clearly some of the
events involved in the Enge case.
President Maxey then read his
report to the Board. The report
gave three main reasons why he
had removed Wilson and sus-
pended Chief Hunt for 10 days.
Taken singly, the charges were
not too serious. but combined
in a chain of events as the Pres-
ident had them, they had much
more meaning. He stated that,
in his opinion, his actions were
justified and he was leaving it
up to the Board to decide.
Serious or not, the charges
were puzzling enough for the
Board to table the whole thing
for further study. No other busi-
ness of interest was brought up
and the meeting adjourned.
There were more known poli-
ticians at this meeting than at
any other during this adminis-
tration,
and
many
comments
were made. One of
note was
that: "While the Board squabbles
over
the Police Dept. water
is
leaking all over town and noth-
ing is being done about it."
We don't know but it seems
from listening that the President
and the. Board would do well to
get together and do a little work
for the people.
