Full Text
At the weekly luncheon of the Lions Club Wednesday a resolution was adopted favoring the bond issue voted on at the election next Tuesday.
The club endorsed the issuance of the bonds for the erection of a city building to house the fire department and equipment and for other city use, and favored the purchase of a fire truck that would meet the requirements of the fire insurance underwriters.
If the bonds are voted and the equipment secured that is proposed, Ordway will be placed in class 6, the same class given La Junta, Fowler and other such towns that have proper fire fighting equipment and protection.
With this new rating the money saved the taxpayers on insurance premiums would amount to approximately $4,000 per year besides lessening the danger of a fire loss over and above what insurance covers and what the property insured is worth.
