Ready to Begin
Livestock feed program for McCone county is ready for operation, according to Phillip E. Olmstead, county extension agent.
A total supply of 29,000 bushels in Circle and Brockway ready for distribution, and enough will be brought in to supply the near quarter of a million bushels requested by livestock producers in the county. It's in the state and will be available for distribution to applicants, Olmstead said.
Producers will be allowed 10 pounds of barley for foundation beef cows, and 10 pounds for two-year-old replacement heifers.
For bull calves kept for replacements and replacement heifers under two 5 pounds of feed grain will be allowed.
For ewes and rams for breeding will be allowed 1-2 per head. For replacement lambs .7 to 1.4 pounds are available.
Feed will be available at 75% of the 1961 support price.
For hogs and horses, feed grain is available at full support price.
