Full Text

We omitted to notice at the time it occurred, two or three weeks ago, the discontinuance of Mrs. Colvin's literary undertaking, the "Weekly Messenger."

The fact is announced in the Bridgeton (N. J.) Whig in the following complimentary terms:

Nat. Intel.

"The 'Weekly Messenger,' edited by Mrs A. S. Colvin, of Washington City, has been discontinued. We regret this circumstance for several reasons ; the first is, because it is a valuable work, and one which bid fair to be of public usefulness; the second is, because it is another evidence that in every department, the ladies can support their dignity and exalt their character. Her editorial remarks were generally written with spirit and ability; they indicated a well informed mind, and were directed to useful objects. We regret, also the discontinuance of this paper, on account of the fair sex to whose toilette it could not be otherwise than a valuable acquisition."
