Man In Murder
Of Waitress
SAVANNAH, Ga. - (UPI) - Police continued to search Monday
for an unidentified Negro who is
believed to have murdered a 48-
year-old white woman during the
weekend.
An autopsy report late Monday
showed however that Mrs. J. T
Inman had not been criminally assaulted before she died.
Searchers found Mrs. Inman's
body Sunday in a wooded section
of Chatham County. Wounds indicated she had been shot twice in
the face and three times in a line
across her chest.
Employees of the sandwich shop
which employed Mrs. Inman last
saw the young grandmother after
she left Friday afternoon to deliver a large order. Police said the
order had been placed by an unidentified Negro who had specifically asked that Mrs. Inman deliver the sandwiches to an address
which was later found to be non-existent.
Workers at the shop said Mrs.
Inman, the mother of two and the
grandmother of two, had been reluctant to make the delivery.
County police estimated that
3,000 persons joined in a search for the woman after a public appeal was made via news media.
