Defense Conference

NEW YORK, April 9- Walter White, executive secretary of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, is participating in an orientation conference which the Department of Defense is conducting for civilian leaders.

Monday, April 9, 1951
The Washington conference, according to Caldwell, will be addressed by President Truman "and other distinguished speakers."

The appointment and confirmation of the former Florida governor was opposed by the NAACP in a letter and a conference with the President and at the hearings before the subcommittee of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
