The Commercial says that Joshua Jones, a colored man, was on Monday committed to jail at New Castle, by Esquire Silver, of Wilmington, upon the charge of committing an outrage upon Mrs. Mary Meredith, a married woman, who has been for some months keeping house for Henry McCrone, in New Castle Hundred. On Friday evening Lewis Carpenter, alias Jones, colored, was also committed, in default of $2000 bail, as accessory, and William Moore, in default of $1000, as a witness in the case. All three are farm hands: the last named living at Henry McCrone's. The negroes made a confession of the crime. The affair created much excitement in Wilmington.
