El Centro is joining other cities in the nation in the annual spring roundup of children who are to enter school for the first time next fall.
"One of the most important activities of P.-T.A. groups," said Mrs. S. A. Dempster, president of the Harding association, "is this annual spring round-up of pre-school children which is encouraged by the American Medical association and child health and welfare agencies in the United States, many thousands of children being given physical examinations each year. In this way defects are discovered and corrections made so that the child may enter school with a clean slate as far as health is concerned."
Local members of the county medical association are cooperating with Dr. Warren F. Fox, county health officer, and Miss Edith Eicke, school nurse, and have agreed to give free physical examinations on Tuesday, May 5, at the Ten Thousand club house.
The Harding P.-T.A., the newly organized Wilson P.-T.A., Mrs. Bertha Judd's clinic on the Eastside, and groups of mothers from McKinley and Lincoln schools will meet Friday at 2 p.m. in Harding school to talk over plans for this roundup.
