Tuskegee Institute, Ala., (Calvin Service)-Prior to the showing of the screen play, Union Pacific by Cecil B. DeMille, in Logan Hall Saturday evening, Dr. W. T. B. Williams, Vice-President of Tuskegee Institute, presented Ralph B. Stewart, Jr., a member of the Class of 1939, with a handsome Sundial Trophy, suitably inscribed, given to him by the members of Tuskegee Institute Boy Scout Troop. No. 33, in appreciation of his service as Scoutmaster of the Troop, which position he filled acceptably since his freshman year at Tuskegee.
Mr. Stewart, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph B. Stewart, Sr., of Jacksonville, Florida, has been active in the scout program over a period of 8 years, and as a result has attained the highest rank in scouting-that of the Combination Gold and Silver Palm on the Eagle and supplemented by 94 merit badges and a Senior Red Cross Life Saving Certificate. These coveted honors place him in the top group of this particular organization in the United States.
Mr. Stewart has recently been appointed to the faculty of Tuskegee Institute as part-time Instructor in Chemistry, and as an assistant to Dr. George W. Carver.
Members of the Tuskegee Institute Troop Committee are Capt. Frank L. Drye, Chairman; Dr. W. T. B. Williams and Mr. J. H. Palmer.
