Wanton Destruction of Game in the Yellowstone Park,

A report says that a party of Englishmen not long ago killed, in defiance of law, twenty or thirty bison in the Yellowstone National park, without taking any part of the animals for use. This was about a fourth of the total herd. There is a great deal of talk about the sacredness of game in the park, but such outrages are common.

The Laramie Boomerang of Monday says:

Col. Kingman, of the army headquarters, informed a reporter yesterday that he had received a report from the superintendent of the Yellowstone National park that five hunters had been arrested while killing game in the park. They were taken in charge by Assistants Wilson and Weimer near Mammoth Hot Springs and were taken into court. Two of them plead guilty to a charge of killing game and were fined $25 and costs, while the other three, who made some trouble about the matter, were called upon to pay fines of $50 and costs each.

Col. Kingman said that it was the policy of the government to see that all game within the limits of the park was sacred from the shotgun of the hunter. Of late the game laws had been strictly enforced and there had been very few cases of depredation reported.

Col. Kingman is at work upon his annual report upon the work accomplished in Yellowstone National park this year. It will be illustrated by splendid pictures, and will altogether be a highly interesting and entertaining work.
