Kingston, [Jamaica] March 13. The 25th ult. arrived at Rio Bueno, the William and Mary, Captain Morgan, in 36 days from the Downs, who brings the following intelligence:

That on the 10th ult. in latitude 22 degrees, longitude 32, he spoke the Mercury Packet, Capt. Sharpe, from Bengal and Madras, for England, dispatched home with the very important news of the city of Tanjour being taken by storm, by the company's troops, under the command of General Spencer, who made the King of Tanjour prisoner; and that the city with the King, was agreed to be ransomed.

That another province in India, taken by the English East-India company previous to the capture of Tanjour, had been disposed of for 1,400,000l. 600,000 of which was then on board the above packet, as a remittance to the company; and that our affairs in India are now in a most flourishing condition.
