Hattie loves Baby Doll.
In fact, Hattie loves Baby Doll so much that it put Hattie and her mother in bed, injured and sick.
It happened something like this:
Hattie Lou Artz, 3, returned with her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. William Artz, 141 Hawkes-av. from Sunday school and discovered that her kitten, Baby Doll, was missing.
The little girl and her friends looked all over the neighborhood for the kitten but the search proved fruitless. Hattie was inconsolable.
To please Hattie, her father and a neighbor took her out Sunday afternoon to look for another kitten. That's when it happened.
Hattie Lou was injured when she opened the rear door of her father's car while it was traveling in the 1400 block of Brown-rd.
The little girl was rushed to Mt. Carmel Hospital where she was treated and transferred to Childrens Hospital for surgery about the head and brain.
When Mrs. Artz, at home, learned of the accident she fell unconscious and was placed under a doctor's care.
At last report, Baby Doll had not returned to the Artz home.
In the theater, a situation of this magnitude would arise at the end of the second act. Won't someone tell Baby Doll what's happened? Act three curtain going up!
