Now Number 63,337

WASHINGTON (CNS) The recently
announced population figures
as tabulated from the returns of the
1930 census show that while the
Negro population of Houston increased
65 per cent, the white
population increased 150.9 per cent.
There were in the city 214,850 white
persons, 63,337 Negroes and 14,32x
of other race. The 1920 figures
were 104,268 and 33,060 respectively
for the white and Negro populations.

Of the
Negro population the
males were 30,100 and the females
33,177, an excess of 3,017 females
over males. The Negro population
21 years of age and over was 12,390,
20,509 males and 21,681 females.
