This fine fire company whose projected visit to Wilmington, Delaware, has been several times announced in the city prints left for their destination yesterday afternoon, and made a very animated display as they marched through the streets, which were crowded with spectators, to the point of embarkation. A fine band of red-coated musicians led the van, discoursing stirring music as they marched. A committee of citizens, red badges fluttering from their button holes, followed, then came the members of the Hope handsomely attired in long black frock coats and pants of the same color, their ornamental belts and helmets alone proclaiming their calling. The rear brought up the engine which was elegantly decorated for the occasion with flags and flowers, the name and number of the company, in embroidered letters, being encircled by a wreath of flowers, beautiful in execution and tasty in design.
We wish the boys a jolly good time, and there is little doubt that they will have it if our own experience among the blue hen's chickens be any criterion.
The "Hopes" left the city yesterday afternoon on board the Adelaide, amid a perfect tenue de joi, from their friends the "Wiltear" and members of the Hook and Ladder and Portsmouth Fire Companies. The "Uniteds" had their little cannon out on Town Point and fired them a parting salute as the steamer passed along.
