CABINET.

Fifteen public ministers constitute the cabinet of the king of England, and 200 persons are of his Privy Council. Earl Grey, first lord of the treasury, has a salary of £4000. Five other lords of the treasury receive each £1600.

The House of Lords has 12 officers; the House of Commons, consisting of more than 600 members, has 35 clerks and officers besides the speaker, Hon. Charles Manners Sutton, whose salary is £6000. sterling per annum.

The British ministers at foreign courts are 25.

The Lord Chief Justice of the Court of King's Bench, and the Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas has each a salary of £3000; and the Lord Chief Baron of the Court of Exchequer, £7000.

The side Judges and Barons receive each £5500. The Chancellor of the Exchequer Office receives £2800; and the Auditor £4000. The Master of the Mint receives £3000. The Lord Lieutenant of Ireland has an annual salary of 30,000.
