Full Text

Severe Accident.—Monday afternoon Charley Pollard, son of J. D. Pollard, and Mr. Chase's little boy were trying to imitate Mr. Beck in blasting a log. The little fellows procured a can of powder, poured out a quantity of it, and putting some wood on the top of the powder, touched it off with a candle. The powder flashed and so injured them that it was thought for a time that he would lose his sight. His physician says that he will not lose his eyesight provided that inflammation can be kept down. The boy is ten years of age, and a bright little fellow. The accident may prove a very sad one, and certainly should be a warning to parents to set cans of powder on the top shelf.—[Reno Gazette, July 12.
