Full Text
The cruel Stamp-Act now begins to Stamp away our Money. It is an Act highly destructive of American Liberty, and every loyal Patriot ought to enter his Protest against it. The spirited Conduct of the North-Americans, on this Occasion, has ranked them among the foremost Sons of Liberty. Loud Complaints have been made by us against the West-India Members in Parliament ; --their tame Acquiescence to this Act, is a clear Demonstration to the Amor Patrie, for which the Roman Decii fell. possesses but a small Place in their Hearts. Barbadoes, above all other West-India Islands, will be ruined by this Law. The Stamp-Duties, are all to be paid in Specie ; and we have such a Scarcity of Cash, that when Twelve or Fifteen Thousand Pounds is annually sent Home for Stamp Duties, our Trade must inevitably perish.
