LONDON— A priest here has refused to disclose whether he heard the last confession of a Londoner hanged four years ago for a murder he may not have committed.

Fr. Joseph Francis, pastor of Northwood, visited condemned man, John Timothy Evans, while he was awaiting hanging for the murder of his infant daughter.

A sensation was caused in a recent parliamentary debate on capital punishment here when the home secretary at the time, Chuter Ede, who was responsible for the final decision on Evans' execution, admitted a mistake was probably made.

After Evans' death another man living in the same house was found guilty and executed for murdering six women.
