Domestic Art and Science.
The Junior-Senior cooking class is to give a formal reception Saturday afternoon at the H. S. building for their parents, teachers and friends.
They are going to make candy for the Episcopal bazaar.
The Domestic Art girls will spend December making Christmas gifts instead of doing their regular work.
H. S. Library.
The library has been increased until it contains over one thousand volumes, two hundred of there are books of history or travel, 250 are English Classics and reference books, 100 are educational, and 180 modern fiction.
We have a fine new set of the Encyclopedia Britannica which contains 25 volumes.
Mr. Cornelius has just placed 5 volumes of O. Henry's short stories in the library. We also have 6 weeklies, 28 monthlies and 2 dailies.
This library is open to the students from 2:30 to 4:30 daily under the charge of Miss White.
Grammar School.
The pupils of the grammar school ranking first, second and third in their studies are as follows:
1st G. (A), Florence Jackson, Almeda Drye and Jarvic Houck.
1st G. (B). Fred Sutton, Lucile Lewis, and Lillian Redman and Meta LaPrade tie for third.
2nd G., Catherine Beckwith, Doris Henderson, and Madelin Easley and Frances Nalch tie for third.
3rd G. (A), Viola Seeger, Fern See and Dou Miller.
3rd G. (B), Genevieve Pearson, Virginia Flickinger and Loretta Bauer.
4th G. Ruth See, Ruth Lamar and Bertha Phillips.
5th G. Alice Bailey, Helen Seller and Stell Nelson.
6th G., Ray Seeger, Ewart Day and Ethel Wilhelm.
7th G., Raphael Ortega, Florence Coyne and Thelma Lamb.
The manual training department was the scene of busy activity during the last few weeks.
In the wood-working department several writing desks are under construction, and a library table being made by Chas. Ward is nearing completion.
A fancy taborette of quarter sawed oak, cut out on the band saw, has been finished during the week by Will Southerland.
A combination wardrobe of Oregon pine was recently completed by Ygnacio Ortega.
