The following atrocious sentiments were recently heard by a correspondent of the Church Herald proceeding out of the mouth of the Protestant Episcopal chaplain at Duran, during a sermon with which that preacher of the Gospel favored his congregation.

"The French people, my brethren, among whom our lot to dwell, are unfortunately not of the same creed as ourselves: they are idolators, and bow down to idols of wood and stone. We should be thankful for our superior Protestant privileges, and be very careful not to concede them or make any compromise."
