The action of ex-Governor John Ireland is simply, I cannot-you shall not. The Knights of Labor assert no other doctrine, aim at no other result. Has the ex-Governor become a Knight of Labor too? Division usually lessens, but a division of Texas into at least six states for the present, is necessary to give an opportunity for ambitious statesmen(?) to serve their country-in the United States Senate chamber. It seems to the quiet "looker-on" that either Judge Reagan or General Maxey is the choice of the present legislators, the present representatives of the people, and it becomes ex-Governor Ireland and, as gracefully as he can, to step aside. The ox is known for his patient endurance under toil, and sometimes for his sullenness. The latter characteristic is not admired even by his owners. These are the opinions of a laboring man, in politics of the least importance, so small as to sign himself,
