Combatants Drop Into Bay in Attempt to Escape From the Police.

Seattle. Sept. 20.--The waterfront was the scene of great excitement last night when two men engaged in a running fight with revolvers. The bullets were flying thick and fast in every direction and citizens who were hurrying to catch their boats were forced to seek safety in doorways and other hiding places.

The fugitives, in attempting to board a tug, which was tied up to a dock, miscalculated the distance and fell into the bay. They were rescued by the police and are now in jail. The police are endeavoring to learn the cause of the row, which they believe occurred over a division of the spoils of some robbery.
