NATIONAL CONVENTION
FROM APRIL 2 TO 8.
The Commissioners of the Convention at Rochelle gave an account of the state of that city, with regard to subsistence. They further informed the Convention, that the people of Nantz, assisted by their neighbors, had made an attack upon the insurgents, killed 1200, and taken as many more.
In the session of the 5th a letter was read from the Commissioners of the Department of Lille, stating that all the posts on the banks of the Villaine, occupied by the Insurgents, had been taken, and the passage re-established.
A motion was made and carried, that all the superior officers who might be taken, should be brought to Paris, to answer with their heads for the lives of the War Minister, and the Commissioners delivered by Dumourier into the hands of the enemy. A decree was accordingly issued for that purpose; but the execution of it, on the motion of Mallarme, suspended till the report of the Committee of National Safety.
