Spoke Extemporary on hearing Several Discourses of the Rev. Mr. B-w-n's.

Go on Hortensio; plead your Master's Cause,
Proclaim his Glories, and explain his Laws;
With noble Courage still assert his Right,
The Wonders of his Love display to Sight:
The various Beauties of the Gospel Scheme,
The Freeness of his Grace be still your Theme;
Place moral Duties on their proper Base,
Urge them from Motives drawn from Gospel Grace:
Alarm the Sinner with his awful State;
Denounce the Doom which doth his Sins await:
Persuade him by the Terrors of the Law,
And by the Saviour's Love most gently draw.
Detect the Hypocrite in his vain Hopes,
His airy Phantoms, his delusive Props;
Direct them in the Path which leads to Heav'n,
Where Pleasures ever rise, and Joys are giv'n:
Nor fear the bold Attacks of Men,
GOD will maintain your Cause, Secure your Name:
Be strong in him, trust in his faithful Word,
His promis'd Presence, ever he'll afford.
