Full Text

Extract of a Letter from Philadelphia, dated March 6.

We have enjoyed a most peaceful quiet in this city, civil justice is administered by our new police, much to the public satisfaction: Numbers have left Mr. Washington, his force does not exceed 8000, and those daily diminishing by scores from death and desertion, and very few recruits to be obtained, so that a proper support from home, will ensure the restoration of peace to the distracted colonies. Our foraging parties have, without the loss of a single man foraged and secured the country thirty miles distant. and two troops of provincial light horse, lately raised in Philadelphia, have very greatly distinguished themselves.
