Full Text

We learn, that a canal is opening between the rivers Loire and Garonne (France) which, when effected, will actually intersect the kingdom in every direction, and form an inland navigation to the extent of 1200 miles, joining the cities of Nantes, Cette, Bordeaux, Orleans, Tours, Poitiers, Toulouse, and two hundred other inland towns, giving them all water carriage to the ocean, in the bay of Biscay, Atlantic, the British Channel, and the Mediterranean. This is a great enterprise, and infinitely redounds to the credit of France.
