Fair Street Woman Reports Assault

A 28-year-old West Fair Street woman reported to police Tuesday night that as she was standing on Ashby Street, near Palmetto Street a Negro man drove up, placed a gun at her back and carried her to some woods off Hill Street and criminally assaulted her three times.

The assault is alleged to have occurred near the City Construction Department on Hill Street. After the man had assaulted her the third time, said the woman, she managed to escape him.

At this time no positive evidence has been established that the woman was raped, officers, however, reported that the woman suffered a bruised left eye.
