MEXICAN FLOODS.
The Railroads Again Washed Out.
CITY OF MEXICO, October 7.—Heavy
rains have continued to fall in the
interior of Mexico. At Leon there
has been much trouble owing to the
giving away of reservoirs on the
hills above the city which is damaged
by water especially in the southern
part of the town, which was badly
washed, though no loss of life is re-
ported at this point.
The Mexican
Central railway
is again badly inundated, and
the track
injured and the
bridge at San Francisco again swept
away. All in the vicinity of Leon is
under water for many miles and no
such flood has been known for years.
Mail communication is again inter-
rupted.
Newspapers
here
especially
the Nacional, and L'Epoca demand
that the government investigate the
causes of the washouts and charge
that the engineers in laying out the
road sought lower levels than was
prudent, asserting that in the low
country of El Bajio the road bed
needs to be raised to prevent a re-
currence of the floods another year.
Other railways are said to be exper-
encing similar troubles.
The superintendent of Wells, Fargo
Express company says if the rains do
not cease, travel via the Mexican Cen-
tral railway will be badly interrupted
resulting in great inconvenience and
loss to business men.
