One of the largest crowds of the season gathered at Manhattan Beach last evening to see its display of fireworks and listen to the music of Gilmore's Band. Early trains were crowded and late trains were unpleasantly full. Gilmore's band and the fireworks divided the honors of the evening. Long before all the people had reached the Beach, there were a sputtering and popping of candles, buzzing and whizzing of rockets and a conglomeration of indescribable noises from still more indescribable pyrotechnics. The air was filled with sticks, pin wheels, colored lights and rocket sticks. It was a gala night at Manhattan Beach.
