Full Text

March 23. The various letters and accounts, said to be received from gentlemen in the back country, stating the great probability of an Indian war, in the spring, merit serious consideration.

It is hard to suppose (though it may not be impossible) that any person would be villainous enough to forge them, merely to spread an alarm. And if they are well founded, it would be a fatal mistake, to defer making preparations, until the Indians commenced depredations. The retentions of the frontier posts by the British, and the movements of the Indians, seem pregnant with dangers to the confederation.

Various letters and accounts from gentlemen in the back country state the great probability of an Indian war in the spring, which merit serious consideration. It is doubted that they are forged to spread alarm, and if well-founded, deferring preparations until depredations begin would be fatal. British retention of frontier posts and Indian movements pose dangers to the confederation.
