NO COAL FOR VESSELS.

The Miners' Strike Causes Trouble at Newport News.

NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 2.-Three schooners which arrived here today from Newport News report that the coal there is exhausted and they were unable to secure cargoes. To the strike of the miners in the New River mine, from which the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad draws its supplies of coal. the shortage is attributed. The strike has been in progress about a week.

The vessels which left Newport News today were the last of a large fleet which dispersed, the vessels going to Norfolk and other ports where cargoes may be obtained.
