Accident Occurs at Grade Crossing Near Breien, N. D., This Morning
Mandan, N. D., April 17. - H. Blount, traveling salesman for a grocery house, and Fred H. Marshall, traveling representative of the Estate Stove Company, both from Huron, S. D., were fatally injured this morning at Breien, N. D., when their closed car crashed into the engine of a west bound freight train.
The road closely parallels the rail road tracks and makes a sharp turn to a grade crossing. The men were racing the freight and their brakes failed to hold when they reached the sudden turn in the road, apparently unfamiliar to them, according to witnesses to the crash. Both men were living when placed aboard the train to be rushed to a Mandan hospital. However, Blount died shortly after being placed aboard. The train was due to reach Mandan at 12:30 p. m., mountain time.
