Serious Affair between two Virginians
The New York Express states that an encounter took place at the Medical College in 11th street, in that city, on Tuesday afternoon, between two students named David E. Bass and Wm. H. Irvin, both from Virginia. In the affray, Irvin drew a knife, and inflicted several stabs on the person of his opponent, causing dangerous, and perhaps fatal wounds, from which the blood flowed profusely. Mr. Bass was conveyed by his friends to his boarding house in 10th street, between 1st Av., and Av. A., at which place Irvin was also stopping, where his wounds were dressed by a skillful surgeon, who was soon in attendance. The cause of the affray had not been made public. The two young gentlemen, previous to this unhappy affair, were warm friends and room-mates.—N. Y. Dispatch.
