Church Scandal

Indianapolis, May 22.—This evening William Patterson, a member of the Edwin Ray Methodist church, caused the arrest of Rev. George B. Young, the pastor, and George Evans for criminal libel, and he also instituted a $10,000 damage suit against the Daily News for publishing a statement by Young which reflected upon the integrity of the plaintiff. These suits are the outgrowth of a discussion in the church which resulted in a fight night before last in the house of God, during which Patterson was severely beaten by the friends of William Young.
