A Baconmonger
One of the most interesting trials ever pulled off in Yuma was that of J. Rowe before Judge Jones Friday. Rowe was charged with stealing bacon from the government and selling it to local restaurant men. He was defended by W. F. Timmons and W. O. Harris, while the prosecution rested in the personnel of County Attorney C. H. Colman and Thomas Molloy.

After several hours' deliberation the jury rendered a verdict of guilty as charged and the defendant drew a sentence of sixty days in jail.

This was the second trial of Rowe for the same offense, the former trial resulting in a hung jury.

The attorneys for the defense produced the argument that Rowe had purchased the bacon from a prospector and that he in no way violated any law.—Yuma Sun.
