Personal.--During the past week San Juan has been fairly flooded with visitors, distinguished and otherwise. Amongst the former was E.G. Waite, Esq., our esteemed cotemporary of the Nevada Journal. Later in the week Mr. N.P. Brown, of the same establishment, and George S. Hupp, Esq., illuminated the office of the Press by a flying visit. Still later, John L. Gamble, Esq., surveyed our poor sanctum. Mr. John P.H. Wentworth, traveling agent for Mrs. Connor, is now in town soliciting subscriptions on behalf of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association. Our citizens are too well acquainted with the object of this association to require any explanation at our hands. Suffice it, that the patriotic ladies composing it are making the most zealous exertions to raise the $200,000 which they have contracted to pay, before the next anniversary of Washington's birthday. A subscription of not less than one dollar makes every American citizen a member of the Association, and the donor's name will be inscribed in the archives of Mt. Vernon, to be kept forever.
