NATHAN PERLMUTTER
Nathan Perlmutter, former national director of community action for the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith, has been appointed director of the League's Florida Office, chairman George Talianoff of Miami Beach announced today. Perlmutter succeeds the late Gilbert Balkin.
An authority on hate groups and a well known commentator on social and political affairs, Mr. Perlmutter's articles have appeared in Commentary, National Jewish Monthly, Jewish Examiner and in numerous political journals. He joined the League in 1949 as civil rights director of its Rocky Mountain states office. In 1952 he directed its Michigan office and two years later was chosen to direct community action where he chartered the League's counteraction tactics against subversive and anti-democratic forces.
Perlmutter studied at the School of Diplomatic and Consular Practice at Georgetown University, at Villanova College, and received his LL.B. from New York University. He is a member of the New York Bar and a veteran of World War II during which he served as an infantry officer with the United States Marines.
A resident of Montclair, New Jersey, Mr. Perlmutter and his wife, Ruth, and their two children, plan to settle in the Miami area.
