NEW SALEM CIRCUIT
MAKES MANY SALES

Superintendent of Holstein Breeder's Association Optimistic About 1935

New Salem, N. D., March 8.-Taking sales in the circuit as a barometer, H. Buss, superintendent of the New Salem Holstein Breeders' association, expresses optimism in the future of the purebred breeders' organization.

Among recent sales made by members of the association are three cows and a five-year old bull shipped to Ernest Kapaun of Alice, N. D.; a bull calf shipped to Hillsboro by William Kroeger; a great bull calf purchased by Frank Gaebe from Ed Tellman; a calf sold by Charles Klusman to Charles Friese of Judson and a calf shipped to a Cogswell farmer by Fred C. Micheals.

With new orders in the mail every day and the recent snow giving promise of a good feed crop, Buss looks to a bigger sales year than ever before.

Under the able leadership of Clarence Klusman, the association's 4-H club is making rapid strides. Klusman got his start in breeding work when he persuaded his parents to buy him a pure-bred heifer, Parthenia Countess Pet. The investment proved a good one and now five daughters, five granddaughters and one great granddaughter may be found in the Klusman herds. One of the daughters holds a record of 13,624.9 pounds of milk with 517.8 pounds of butterfat in a year.

Some time ago, the elder Klusman, needing a good sire, purchased Circuit Pride Aaggie Wayne Beets from the Elmwood farms. The calf was sired by Aagie Wayne Forum. It's mother holds a record in milk and butterfat production in the New Salem circuit.
